Lo curioso es que, pese a su impacto visual, sigue siendo complicado encontrar información clara y actualizada sobre qué juegos son compatibles con Auto HDR. La mayoría de guías oficiales se centran en HDR nativo o en FPS Boost, dejando esta función repartida entre foros y pruebas de la comunidad.

La compatibilidad con Auto HDR se basa en información aportada por la comunidad y en pruebas prácticas, por lo que no incluye necesariamente todos los juegos retrocompatibles que pueden beneficiarse de esta función. ¿Qué es Auto HDR y cómo funciona en Xbox Series X|S?
Auto HDR es una función a nivel de sistema exclusiva de Xbox Series X y Series S, pensada principalmente para juegos retrocompatibles que se lanzaron originalmente sin soporte HDR.
Mediante inteligencia artificial y algoritmos de machine learning, la consola analiza cada imagen en tiempo real y genera metadatos HDR10 de forma automática. El resultado es una mejora visual inmediata:
- Brillos más intensos, como reflejos, explosiones o fuentes de luz
- Mayor contraste, con negros más profundos y más detalle en las sombras
- Colores más vivos y naturales, evitando la imagen apagada típica del SDR
Todo este proceso se realiza sin modificar el código del juego y sin intervención del estudio desarrollador.
A nivel técnico, el modelo de IA de Microsoft —entrenado con grandes conjuntos de datos SDR a HDR— calcula el mapeado de tonos ideal para cada escena, normalmente apuntando a picos de brillo cercanos a los 1.000 nits. A partir de ahí, el televisor aplica su propio tone mapping, lo que garantiza compatibilidad tanto con paneles OLED como con televisores LED o QLED de gama media.
Eso sí, Auto HDR no es perfecto. En algunos títulos pueden aparecer pequeños defectos, como interfaces demasiado brillantes o efectos de iluminación poco naturales. Por este motivo, Microsoft activa Auto HDR solo en aquellos juegos que cumplen unos estándares mínimos de calidad visual. Cómo activar Auto HDR en Xbox Series X|S
Activar Auto HDR de forma global
- Pulsa el botón Xbox del mando para abrir la guía.
- Ve a Configuración > General > Opciones de TV y pantalla > Modos de vídeo.
- Activa Permitir HDR10 y Permitir Auto HDR.
- Reinicia la consola para aplicar los cambios.
